Hanging a towel without a loop: here are your options
Drying towels and guest towels
Smaller terry items such as hand towels or guest towels are often used several times a day without being washed immediately. However, the wetter they are, the less suitable they are for drying your hands, and the more likely bacteria can grow in them. To prevent this, many towels have a small loop that helps with hanging and drying.
Towel hangers: how practical are they?
The loop or hanger on towels is usually located on one of the short sides or in a corner. Its design can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. All our MÖVE collections come with a high-quality and sturdy cord hanger. This allows the towel to stay on any standard hook and hang in a way that enables good drying.
However, large terry items or very wet towels may not dry optimally on a hook—even with a loop. In such cases, you should use a wide towel or bath towel holder. This exposes more surface area to the surrounding dry air, allowing the terry fabric to release moisture more effectively.
Sewing on a towel loop
If your towel does not have a loop, or if you want to add an extra one, you can sew a towel loop on yourself. The best material for this is laundry tape, which can usually be washed at high temperatures without any issues. This is especially important for terry products, which should be washed regularly at at least 60°C to stay hygienically clean.
How useful are towel clips?
Sometimes towel clips are recommended for towels without loops. A towel clip is usually attached to a smooth surface using double-sided adhesive tape, and the towel is clipped in at any point. These clips come in different designs, but they are mainly suitable for lighter, thinner towels or dish towels. Because the towel is clamped into a slot, multiple layers lie on top of each other, which can prevent proper drying in that area. With larger and heavier towels, there is also a risk that they may slip out of the clip, potentially causing pulled threads.
Towel clip for towels without a loop

For large towels or those without a loop—or if the loop is missing or torn—you can use another helpful tool: a so-called towel clip. This practical hanger allows you to attach any towel and then hang it on a hook or rail using the attached loop.
Especially large towels can be clipped along the wider edge and hung up, preventing them from dragging on the floor. If you use two towel clips, bath towels can dry even better. In addition, our towel clip is also visually appealing and features a small Möwe pendant made of easy-care polyresin, making it a real eye-catcher in the bathroom.
