Made in Germany: Sustainable for people, nature and the environment

As a manufacturing company, we are particularly aware of our responsibilities regarding people, nature, and the environment. Which is why we continuously invest in all areas of our business, and promote sustainability and environmental protection at our manufacturing site in Großschönau, Upper Lusatia. We’ve been able to significantly reduce our energy and resource consumption thanks to new technical innovations and technological improvements. Our production location Germany also ensures that our transport routes are short and environmentally friendly.

Energy saving measures

With our combined heat and power plant and a photovoltaic system, we already generate around one third of our electricity requirements ourselves. At the same time, we are converting our entire operation to energy-efficient LED lighting. The waste heat from our compressed air generation system is also used efficiently – it heats the hot water storage tanks for the production showers.

We carefully separate our waste and recycle it via a certified company, e.g. as insulation for the automotive industry or construction sector.

Soft water from our wells

Using soft water from our own wells during production means we don’t need to add any chemicals to soften the water - plus rinse water can be reused multiple times. And we’re able to save on valuable and expensively-treated drinking water by using our own resources.

Cotton textile

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 (Product Class 1)

All of the yarns and additives we use are certified in accordance with OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Product Class 1 which means that all MÖVE terry products - from wash mitts to bathrobes - are suitable for sensitive skin, as well as for people with allergies, babies, and young children.

Plastic-free packaging & FSC-certified paper

Our bathrobes are stored folded rather than hanging. This allows us to avoid plastic hangers and reduce the use of protective films by around 50%. The films used also consist of more than 80% recycled material. As a general principle, we aim to avoid plastic wherever possible. If it is unavoidable in individual cases, we use only PVC-free materials.

We also pay close attention to sustainable solutions when it comes to product labelling. Our hangtags are made from FSC-certified paper.

Sustainability in our collections

For us, sustainability begins with the product. Our collections stand for high-quality materials, refined craftsmanship and long-lasting durability. We rely on carefully selected natural fibres and certified yarns, valued for their skin-friendly properties, resilience and timeless aesthetic. Beyond this, we take a holistic approach to sustainability: through durable products, reduced packaging and a clear commitment to responsible practices across the entire value chain.

Sustainability in our stores

In our stores, customers receive only paper carrier bags. A particularly sustainable alternative is our high-quality fabric bags: they are made from leftover yarns in various colours that arise during our production – making each piece truly unique.

We are also continuously developing our retail spaces. Step by step, we are converting to energy-efficient LED lighting and, when designing our stores, we give preference to sustainable, certified materials. Since 1 January 2024, all MÖVE stores have also been powered exclusively by green electricity.

Nature conservation and Upcycling

We promote climate-friendly action and are actively involved in sustainable initiatives:

  • For several years, we have supported regional reforestation projects and the installation of nesting boxes.

  • Through a subsidised bicycle programme, we make it easier for our employees to switch to cycling – both for commuting and for leisure.

  • We provide textile offcuts from our production to research and study projects that focus on upcycling textile waste and developing sustainable materials. In the future, this could lead to innovative materials that may, for example, replace conventional glass fibres.

For us, thinking sustainably means working today for a better tomorrow.
