Facial cleansing: which towel is best?
Facial cleansing: which towel is best?
Proper facial cleansing
The skin on our face is thinner than the rest of the body’s skin and—since it is not covered by clothing—it is constantly exposed to environmental influences. Those who use makeup may additionally put stress on their skin. After cleansing your face, you should always use products that match your skin type. Depending on your skin, lighter or richer creams are more suitable.
Experts from Ökotest recommend using soap-free products for facial cleansing. These can be cleansing gels, cleansing milk, or cleansing foam. Solid facial cleansers are also an option. These products are formulated with a pH that does not damage the skin’s natural acid mantle.
When cleansing your face, you should always pat rather than rub. This applies to both removing makeup and washing your face. After cleansing, you can use a clarifying toner and then apply your skincare products.
Why a towel is useful for facial cleansing
Today, disposable cleansing wipes are used more and more often and then thrown away. Even if they are compostable, many consumers do not dispose of them properly. This is not only bad for the environment, but can also harm sensitive facial skin. Even if you use these wipes, you should always wash your face with water afterward to remove any residue from the skin.
With a towel, you can gently and easily remove cleansing products from your face.
Which towel should you use for facial cleansing?
Whether you prefer a light massage effect or a very soft, fluffy face towel is up to you. When it comes to size, we have some recommendations: wash gloves are very practical, allowing you to easily apply or remove cleansing products from your face. Our small face cloths (30 × 30 cm) are also ideal companions for facial cleansing. You can learn more about their uses in another article: find it here.
By the way: you should change your facial cleansing towel after each use. Even if you wash it thoroughly and let it dry completely, there may still be traces of makeup, dead skin cells, or cleansing products left behind. You don’t want to transfer these back onto your face the next day.
The right material for face towels
Towels can be fluffy or firmer, quick-drying or particularly durable. The biggest influence on this is the material used.
You will find these high-quality materials in our collection:
• Cotton: highly absorbent, durable, fluffy
• Cotton/linen: firmer feel, slight massage effect
• Cotton/viscose: soft, quick-drying, and breathable
• Cotton/viscose/linen: especially smooth, soft, and with a slight sheen
Both in our wash gloves and face cloths from MÖVE, you will find a wide selection of materials and colors, so there is the right towel for your face as well!
