The Monstera deliciosa – the plant no one can ignore

The Urban Jungle trend is currently enjoying enormous popularity, not only in fashion and architecture, but also in the world of interior design. One plant in particular plays a major role here: the ever-popular Monstera. In this blog post, we reveal how this plant became an icon.

An icon across the centuries

“Delicious Swiss cheese plant” – that is the translated name of this fashionable plant. And indeed, the sight of Monstera deliciosa is a delightful one – especially its leaves, which initially grow in a beautiful heart shape before developing their distinctive split appearance over time. It is precisely because of its simple yet elegant look that the Monstera is now enjoying a major comeback, bringing a relaxed holiday feeling into our interiors. This potential was already recognised in the mid-19th century – towards the end of the Biedermeier period – when larger windows and brighter, warmer rooms became popular. Wealthy citizens liked to bring a touch of botanical exotica into the city alongside their aviaries. At that time, many other plants also arrived in Europe, but none looked quite as majestic as the Monstera deliciosa.

What is especially wonderful about our favourite plant is that, on the one hand, it is very easy to care for and highly resilient, while on the other hand it is also wonderfully affordable. Unsurprisingly, demand has always been overwhelming. Designers, in turn, embrace such trends, which is why the plant currently adorns countless works of art, wallpapers, interior pieces and textiles.

“MÖVE BOTANICAL GARDEN” for your own personal jungle adventure

Our new “MÖVE BOTANICAL GARDEN” collection shows just how beautifully the Urban Jungle theme can also be brought into the bathroom. The high-contrast Jacquard design featuring the Monstera leaf lends the collection a touch of exotic flair and transforms every bathroom into a small tropical paradise for relaxation.

Alongside the classic hand towels and shower towels in various leaf designs and magnificent colours – Carmine, Deep Lake, Peridot and Papyrus – the “MÖVE BOTANICAL GARDEN” collection also offers an elegant shawl-collar robe for women. This stands out in particular thanks to its figure-enhancing cut and the high-quality piping on the collar and cuffs.

Colour-coordinated accessories from the “MÖVE COLOUR CERAMIC” range complement the collection perfectly, while the towels and smaller items from the silky-sheen plain programme “MÖVE BAMBOO LUXE” ensure a thoroughly stylish overall look.
